Enjoying Vacation WITHOUT Feeling Guilty
Jul 23, 2020I went on vacation in Miami the week before last and enjoyed lots of sunshine, Cuban coffee, and yummy food ☀️ ☕️
One of the biggest takeaways from the trip was the ability to enjoy foods that I wouldn't normally eat and not feel guilty about it AT ALL 😋
This used to always be a struggle for me...but after realizing the power of living a metabolically flexible lifestyle, I no longer feel guilty about enjoying myself on vacation 😎
Don't get me wrong though, I'm not splurging at every meal or completely ignoring my calorie intake. Instead, I'm doing exactly what I advise all my clients to do when on vacation ⤵️
1️⃣ If you're tracking macros, focus mainly on calories and protein 🍖🥩 -- this gives you more flexibility to enjoy yourself and ensure you're hitting your protein goal without going overboard.
2️⃣ Incorporate intermittent fasting by pushing your eating window out a bit further ⏰ (i.e., 11 or noon) so you can enjoy bigger meals such as brunch and dinner with family/friends.
3️⃣ Plan ahead and be strategic with what you choose to splurge on. Save your splurges for the things you know you'll really enjoy 😍 Take some time to think through what these foods/meals are so you have a plan going into the vacation 🤔
4️⃣ Pay attention to your movement throughout the day🚶🏻♀️If you have a daily step goal (all my clients do), don't ignore it just because you're on vacation -- get those steps in!💃🏻
Sticking to your goals while on vacation is ABSOLUTELY doable as long as you plan ahead and THINK through your choices! PLUS, it’s vacation, you should be enjoying yourself.
IT’S OKAY to consume some foods you might not normally consume and you DON’T have to feel guilty about it. Just know what’s worth it and what’s not, know where you are at this point in time with your goals, and make SMART, MINDFUL choices that align with that. Hope this helps! 👊🏻
